Community Food Resiliency - About Us

Resiliency for All Americans

My introduction to the concept of resiliency came through my work with the Society of American Military Engineers, where I engaged with a government community model developed from post-disaster think-tanks in Washington DC.

To gain a deeper understanding of Food Resiliency, I encourage you to explore the extensive governmental resources available on this subject:

  • The USA Government's Model: Discover the United States Government's comprehensive approach to Food Resilience by visiting this resource.
  • Leadership in Food Resiliency: Learn about the pivotal role of the Bureau for Resilience and Food Security within USAID (United States Agency for International Development) by visiting this link.
  • Johns Hopkins Center for a Livable Future: Delve into the details of Food Resiliency initiatives at the Johns Hopkins Center for a Livable Future through their dedicated projects.

These valuable resources exemplify the depth of knowledge and expertise available in the field of Food Resiliency. The presence of such resources and the collective wisdom of food experts are instrumental in advancing our initiatives.

Did you know that we have access to a wealth of expertise in this field? Your engagement and curiosity are vital in furthering our efforts to promote Food Resiliency within our communities.

Tips to Improve Resiliency:

Is personal resiliency needed?  Can I become more resilient?  Is it important to build my own skills to endure hardship well?  How?

Empowering Healthier Communities: Join the Movement

We extend a sincere invitation to be a part of a solution that aims to enhance health, well-being, and the future of our communities, regardless of your geographical location. The path to participation is simple: become part of our community, and share what you cultivate, nurture, and craft to provide sustenance for you and your loved ones.

Perhaps you're contemplating the idea of growing your own food, and you might be thinking, "I've never done that before." That's perfectly alright, and it's precisely the point. Our approach centers on collaboration, learning, and mutual growth by tapping into each other's knowledge and experiences. We welcome participants, whether you're a seasoned gardener or new to the world of soil and seeds. Let's kick-start a conversation about your upcoming fall plans for cultivation and creation within your community.

What skills, insights, and resources can you contribute and share? It's worth noting that Arizona's Valley of the Sun blesses us with multiple growing seasons, making winter gardens an accessible avenue for beginners to achieve success. All you require are some essential skills, a handful of basic ingredients, and a little water.

Join us in this endeavor to foster stronger and healthier communities through sustainable practices and collaborative efforts.
